Roy Subir Kaunds started his career in Mumbai as a journalist, opinion writer, political analyst, business correspondent and newspaper editor. He has expertise in broadcasting and cinema. Over the years he has worn many hats, the latest being as commercial film producer. He is currently financing and producing an indie Bollywood film in Mumbai.
He has been, at various times, the CEO of a film production house, the owner of an advertising and public relations firm and a strategist for celebrities. He has worked closely with industry leaders and with politician of various hues.
After moving to New Zealand he worked as a bureaucrat in a large government ministry as an advisor and policy analyst for 14 years. He holds a Masters degree in Digital Education from Massey University and a Post Graduate Certificate in Public Sector Management from Victoria University. He was instrumental in modernising and digitising the national training curriculum of his government department and his innovative approach was recommended by external audit firms as the new benchmark.
After leaving his government job, Roy returned to journalism and worked as a television presenter and television producer, producing five weekly shows in three languages. He currently chairs a charitable trust and operates a small media company.
