Ron Mark, former Minister of Defence in the New Zealand government and the current Mayor of Carterton, is a distinguished individual with a rich and varied background that spans military service, politics, business, and community leadership.
Ron pursued a career in the New Zealand Army, where he served in elite units such as the Special Air Service (SAS) and the Sultan of Oman's Special Force. After his soldering days were over he turned to the world of business. However he found his calling in politics and served six terms as a Member of the New Zealand Parliament. He was Minister of Defence from 2017 to 2020.
Throughout his military and political endeavours, Ron Mark has been recognized for his commitment and achievements, receiving prestigious awards such as the Order of the Special Royal Emblem of Oman and the Distinguished Service for Peace Award from the Multinational Force and Observers.
