Mahesh Bindra is a former member of Parliament who represented the New Zealand First party in the 51st Parliament (2014-2017). He was the spokesperson for Corrections, Customs, Land Information and Ethnic Affairs and a member of the Select Committee on Law and Order.
In his early years, in Mumbai, India, Mahesh was not too keen to join his family’s logistics business since he desired a career in the army, but years later he fulfilled his family’s wish by establishing a large brewing and hospitality business in the city of his birth.
In New Zealand, his degree in political science helped when he “stumbled” into politics. Knowing how the corridors of power work has motivated him to add his bit to strengthen business and cultural ties between New Zealand and India. To this end, in 2023, he founded the New Zealand Bharat Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
